Newspaper stories
Apparently people love reading about earthquakes. In 2021, we've published a paper on the largest recorded Mediterranean earthquake and tsunami recorded by humans on July 21st in 365 AD. Below are some links to my favorite newspaper articles, as well as a list of all the articles covering this story.

High school partnership
My passion for geology was sparked by a geology-loving high school teacher who took us to local quarries and showed us fossils in his free time. This experience motivated me to start a partner school program with Kantonsschule Chur, Switzerland. The program included visits of me in Chur showing hands-on applications of Earth Sciences, as well as multiple visits of school classes at ETH to show "what scientists do for work". Here's a link to an article.

Colombia - Doctoral Excursion
At ETH Zürich, I had the pleasure of co-organizing an excursion of 25 doctoral researchers to Colombia to foster scientific exchange across disciplines and countries. The excursion concept relied on the participants independently researching topics covered along the excursion route and teaching the fellow researchers in a separate seminar series as well as in the field. Here's a link to the published field trip guide I co-edited. This field trip eventually motivated me to write my postdoc project about uplift of the Northern Andes.
